Welcome Changemakers
What in the world is a Changemaker?
While in Esteli, Nicaragua in 2011, Kristi finished reading Half the Sky by Kristoff and DuWunn AND met social entrepreneur Janie. It changed her life. She was inspired to write a book about changemaking: a business model that focuses on solving social problems. Social entrepreneurship was not yet defined by dictionaries back then, and even now, there’s confusion. Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus says that a social business “is a cause-driven business. It brings a new dimension to the business world, and a new feeling of social awareness among the business community.” But one thing that was very clear to Kristi, her travel had a different purpose-to meet and interview young social entrepreneurs around the world.
Her first was Ashoka Fellow Newey from Bangkok, Thailand, which led her to Ashoka Fellow Lucy in El Salvador. Interviewing her and the young people from the gang-infested communities of Santa Ana inspired Kristi to do something DIFFERENT. Before she headed to Costa Rica to interview Lauren, Lucy said, “Kristi, you must come back and help our girls.” She didn’t know how, but they both knew she would.
AWE is a profit social enterprise framed by doing good first and making as much profit as possible second to sustain its mission of creating a safer and more equitable world for women and girls.
When you sign up for a course, coaching, trip, and beyond, you are making it possible for Kristi to do good with the MOXIE MOBILE. Doing Good is the fuel for the MOXIE ON tour and the MOXIE MOBILE.
Doing good, is good for business.
