Meet Kristi Hemmer, M.Ed.
Work with Kristi
When Kristi was 8, she told her third grade class she wanted to be President, start her own school, write a book like Judy Blume, and circumnavigate the world like Magellan.
Today, Kristi is President—of her own company. After 20 years as an educator, she started her own school—Academy for Women's Empowerment. Kristi published Quit Being So Good: Stories of an Unapologetic Woman. And indeed she has circumnavigated the world—Kristi has traveled to 78+ countries solo—including the Strait of Magellan.
Kristi Is...
An Author.
In her book "Quit Being So Good: Stories of an Unapologetic Woman," Kristi doesn't want to change who you are; she wants you to be more of who you are.
She wonders, "What would be different if you took up space—unapologetically?" Find out.
Stay tuned for Kristi's children's book about a girl named MOXIE (of course).
An Educator.
For 20 years, Kristi was an educator—teaching, counseling, and coaching students to discover their voice, their confidence, and their potential.
Her classroom was never just a place to learn facts. It was a place where young people learned to take up space, ask big questions, and believe in their own power to change the world.
That foundation in education is at the heart of everything Kristi does today—from her keynotes and workshops to her coaching and travel adventures.
A Social Entrepreneur.
Kristi loves solving problems. When she was 12, she was on an all-girls, award winning Future Problem Solvers of America team.
When she was 40 and in Nicaragua working on a bookmobile with her friend Janie, she learned how to solve social problems with a business model.
Inspired by Janie and other changemakers around the world, Kristi founded Academy for Women's Empowerment (AWE INC) in 2013 to answer her big question and solve the problem, "Why do women and girls shrink—in a classroom, a boardroom, in a conversation?"
AWE INC inspires changemakers to disrupt systems of power.
A Sojourner.
At 24, Kristi's first international trip was inspired by teaching her third graders the Nandi tale "Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain." She wanted to see the wildebeest migrate the Serengeti.
Traveling to 78+ countries solo has made her an agent for good. It taught her interdependence, to bust echo chambers, and to turn challenges into opportunities.
An Auntie.
Kristi's favorite title is "Auntie." She is a sponsor, mentor, and influencer to thousands of changemakers around the world.
Like Gloria Steinem, she's not going to pass her torch to the next generation, she's lighting the torch of others. To create more light around the world.
